RULES & GUIDELINES

HERE ARE THE RULES & GUIDELINES YOU MUST READ & KNOW BEFORE ATTENDING ANY OF OUR TRAINING COURSES.

01

ALL FIREARMS ARE CONSIDERED LOADED, SO WE Always Keep The Muzzle Pointed In A Safe Direction

This is the most basic safety rule. Never point your gun at anything you do not intend to destroy. This is particularly important when loading or unloading a firearm. In the event of an accidental or negligent discharge, an injury cannot occur when the muzzle is pointing in a safe direction.

02

ALWAYS keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot

When holding a gun, rest your finger alongside the frame and outside the trigger guard. Until you are actually ready to fire, do not touch the trigger. The main reason is to avoid the possibility of a negligent discharge. If you learn and make a habit of keeping your trigger finger off the trigger until you are ready to shoot, you are less likely to mistakenly put your finger on the trigger until ready to shoot.

03

Firearms Should Be Unloaded When Not Actually on the firing line

For our Basic courses, this is a COLD range. Firearms should be loaded only when you are on the firing line & ready to engage your target. When not engaging your target, your firearm needs to be unloaded, holstered or lying on the bench pointed downrange. Rifles need the bolt locked to the rear, with the ejection port facing up. Firearms will be unloaded while in transit to and from the firing line. Never assume a gun is unloaded -- check for yourself!

04

IDENTIFY YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEHIND AND BEYOND YOUR TARGET

Do not shoot unless you know exactly what your shot is going to strike. Be sure that your bullet will not injure anyone or anything beyond your target.

Ensure you are shooting at an appropriate angle to your target, not at an angle that will allow the bullet to go over your target.

05

Use the Correct Ammunition

No tracer, armor-piercing or incendiary ammunition may be fired at any time.  You must assume the responsibility of using only the correct ammunition for your firearm. Do not use improper reloads or ammunition made of unknown components.

06

Always Wear Eye And Ear Protection WhILE ON THE RANGE

All participants must wear protective, functional & undamaged shooting glasses and hearing protection while on the range.

07

Everyone is a Range Safety Officer (RSO)

If anyone sees an unsafe act, or situation that person should immediately call a cease-fire and notify the RSO of the unsafe, or potentially unsafe situation. We are a private training facility and there may only be a single RSO on duty. Pay attention to detail and ensure you are conducting yourself in the safest possible manner according to the R&G’s.

08

Drugs and Alcohol are not permitted

Firearms and Intoxicants DO NOT MIX! Drugs & Alcohol are prohibited on the premises. Anyone who appears to be intoxicated, or under the influence of drugs will be asked to leave the facility, and could result in the loss of their membership.

09

DO NOT go forward of the firing line

No one is allowed forward of the firing line while the range is hot. You must wait until the range is called cold by the RSO. The RSO will call "THE RANGE IS COLD!” Everyone should repeat this to make sure it was heard by all. At this time, all magazines should already be out and the actions locked to the rear. Once this happens, step back from your firearm and the call, “DOWN RANGE!” will be made. This call lets everyone know people are going down range. No one is allowed to touch their firearm while someone is downrange. Once everyone is back behind the firing line, and the RSO clears the range, they will then call "THE RANGE IS HOT!”.

10

All present at the range Under 18 Must Be Accompanied By An Adult

All persons under the age of 18 must be supervised at all times while on the firing line. Children need to stay with the adult. Any child who can safely and competently handle, load/unload and shoot a firearm unassisted may do so with adult supervision.

11

FULLY AUTOMATIC FIRE

Fully automatic fire is PROHIBITED! Only aimed shots are permitted. Full auto capable guns may be fired, but only in the semi-auto setting. Any erratic firing which could cause a projectile to leave the property will not be tolerated.

12

CLASS 3 FIREARMS

Class 3 firearms are permitted. This includes SBR’s and suppressors. Please take the time to put a copy of your tax stamp paperwork in your range bag and have it with you when shooting.
